Ocean City Maryland

Ocean City, Maryland is a barrier island and home to the state's only coastal community. Before the eighteenth century, the island was a barren place, visited occasionally by only a few anglers. In 1869, a small inn was built to provide accommodation to visiting anglers and other travelers. The city has witnessed continuous growth ever since and is now a popular holiday destination.

Beautiful sandy beaches located on the Atlantic Ocean surround the city. It also offers adventure sports like surfing, scuba diving, power racing and other fun filled activities. Tourists can also visit the famous ocean city boardwalk or take a short ride to Assateague Island nearby.

Ocean City has changed from a small village into one of the most popular tourist destination on the east coast. In 2001, it received the National Civic League's All-America City Award. The city is a popular destination among people of all ages. The hotels and resorts in the city offer all kinds of water sport facilities to the visitors. Abundant supply of fresh water from deep underground aquifers has also helped in the city's growth and development. The best time to visit the city is during summer, as the climate is perfect for traveling.

The hospitality business is growing every year as more and more tourists and vacationers are getting attracted to the charms of the island. The city's quality beaches and related attractions are comparable to the best the country has to offer.

The once deserted piece of land is now a bustling tourist destination. Modern hotels, deluxe and super deluxe condominiums are now a part of Ocean City's landscape. The energy giving smell of saltwater air, clear, open views of the ocean and the soft feel of sand gives the visitors a special experience that keeps them coming back for more.
