This resort is far more than just a place to stay at night. Montchanin is actually a village that exists as a historical monument to times gone by. The 11 houses and other buildings in the Montchanin Village have been restored and, where needed, recreated to their original forms. These buildings date from between the year 1799 to the year 1910. The entire village was once part of the Winarthur estate.
The Inn at Montchanin is itself part of the landscape here. Each of the 28 guest rooms and suites is housed in one of the 11 historically restored buildings. This allows you to have a truly authentic antique feel to your stay. No two rooms at the Inn are alike, with many of the rooms and suites having their own private courtyard areas or gas fireplaces. Even though the rooms are broken apart (not housed in a single building) you still get the convenience of turn down services, modern amenities such as high speed Internet and cable TV, and a mini bar.
All of the furnishings in the rooms at the Inn at Montchanin are as authentic as possible, adding to the ambiance and making it one of the best romantic destinations in Delaware. There are also package deals available, ranging from the Inn House package (which includes admission to some of the local museums, as well as a dinner and overnight stay) to the Village Romance package. The Romance package offers couples a night's stay, as well as champagne, chocolates and fresh berries presented upon arrival. A breakfast for two is also included.
Staying in a beautifully restored historic area is a perfect way to bring some interest into the romantic destinations of Delaware. The interesting setting, combined with roaring fires and gourmet food, offer lovers a great way to spend a weekend.
