Winery Tours a Great Day Out
Discover the beauty of the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula grape-growing regions and enjoy a lovely scenic day out visiting a combination of premium and boutique wineries. The day will include a range of cellar door wine tastings from a beautiful Tuscany style boutique winery to an architecturally acclaimed vineyard complex. The tastings will titillate the palate for a delicious gourmet lunch at an award winning restaurant, offering lovely views across the vineyard. A guided tour of a world renowned wine estate will explain the winery process and art of blending, finishing the leisurely day with petite cheese plates whilst relaxing with a delightful glass of sparkling or still wine overlooking vineyard vistas.
The Yarra Valley is Victoria's first wine growing district with a history stretching back over 160 years. Located at the southern tip of the Great Dividing Ranges only an hour away from the city of Melbourne, it is a cool climate region with a wide range of microclimates contributing to a variety of wines, including Gewurtztraminer,Merlot, Malvec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
The Mornington Peninsula is a modern wine region an hour south from Melbourne. There are over 50 wineries with cellar doors and some great views across Port Phillip and Western Port bays. With its maritime climate and red volcanic soils a variety of wines are produced such as Pinot Noir and Shiraz including the lesser known Viogner and Pinot Gris.
