A Visit to Holland

Holland is small-scale in size with big in events, attractions and activities! From exciting exhibitions to invigorating cycle routes. From de luxe hotel accommodations to wonderful flower shows.

The Netherlands is typically referred to by the name Holland. This is not terminologically accurate., since the provinces of North & South Holland in the western Netherlands are just 2 of the country's twelve provinces.

One of the main characteristics of the Dutch culture is the bluntness. Their proverbial bluntless is not to everybody's taste. The Dutch are as well so committed to equality, compromise and avoiding dispute that they have produced a labyrinth of rules and ordinances from which one there is no easy exit.

Likewise the Dutch are open for new ideas & are very tolerant. Dutch compulsion with equality & keeping everything "normal" is reflected in one of the many famous Dutch sayings which one says: "Doe maar gewoon, dan doe je al gek genoeg" (Behave ordinarily, that's mad enough).

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is mentioned for many great museums, admitting the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, & its world-class symphonic music orchestra, the Concertgebouworkest, whose home base is the Concertgebouw. The Van Gogh Museum houses the greatest collection of Van Gogh's paintings and drawings in the world. An unlikely tourist treat is the moving story of Anne Frank at the Anne Frank House.

Amsterdam is likewise famous for its red-light district, de Wallen. Prostitution is legal in the Holland. The red-light district is situated in the centre of the city along major canals and is clearly marked on maps.

Centred around the Wallen, but likewise elsewhere in the town, coffee shops sell high quality cannabis (marijuana) products. This is not completely legal but is tolerated when small quantities of the drug are involved.
