Located on the island of Ilha Grande, the Island Experience is a resort spa of a truly unique type. The island is entirely private and encompassed by the resort. Located off the coast about 100 miles south of Rio de Janeiro, the island has 106 beaches, 50 plus waterfalls, caves and waterfalls. Much of the island is actually a protected habitat as it is covered in Atlantic Rainforest, some of the only such rainforest still in Brazil.
The Island Experience is unique for its location, but also for its services. This is not your mother?s spa retreat. The Island Experience is an adventure spa. Treatments include traditional, top notch services such as massage, facials and such for body rejuvenation. The spa, however, also places a strong emphasis on getting out and around on the island. The general philosophy is to experience the energy of the rainforest and ocean around you.
While at Ilha Grande, you will be encouraged to get out and experience this amazing place. For water enthusiasts, there is sea kayaking, snorkeling and diving. For those with boots, hiking to the various waterfalls and caves is an enjoyable, relaxing experience. For those that prefer to relax around the lodge, yoga classes are conducted regularly.
The lodge that serves as your home away from home at the Island Experience is something to behold. The rainforest runs directly down to the ocean and the lodge hovers directly at the intersection of these two natural forces. You literally can walk out onto the deck and watch the waves break below you.
The Island Experience is definitely a location for the connoisseur. There are only nine rooms available and prices are such that if you have to ask, you probably can?t afford it. On a side note, keep in mind that you must obtain a visa to visit Brazil and the lovely island of Ilha Grande.
