Cultural Florence

The city of Florence is so steeped in culture and arts with a rich history that a tourist to the place is worn out by the time the whole feeling starts to sink in. Known as the ?Renaissance City?, here you will find Michelangelo?s David, the Birth of Venice by Botticelli?s and Raphael?s Madonna?s.

The essence of Florence tourism is to take the time out to enjoy the simple pleasures that Florence offers. A stroll through the streets in Dante?s old neighborhood and a sip of cappuccino on the Piazza della Signoria will entertain you. Alternatively you can do a bit of haggling while purchasing a leather jacket at the street market around San Lorenzo. The greenery of the Boboli Gardens will engulf you in its scenic beauty.

If you are keen on learning more about Italian culture, you must attend a football match at the football stadium. Calcio, as soccer is known to Italians is a second religion and a visit to the stadium is sure to provide you some invaluable insight to Italian culture. Fiorentina is the local team in Florence and you have to purchase your tickets at the stadium box office at least 3 hours before each game.

You have not been anywhere if you miss out on the opportunity to view Florence?s best park, the Medici grand dukes old backyard to the Pitti Palace and the Giardino Boboli. To the west end of the historic center, you can try out a less scenic park, the Parco della Cascine. It is however, very popular with the joggers. Here you will also find tennis courts and pools apart from a horse racetrack. However, avoid being out here at late nights as it can become a hideout for drug addicts after dark.
