We Are Responsible For Ourselves and Our Security When Traveling Anywhere

Airports, hotels, restaurants, and public places can only be partly responsible for safety on their premises. It is up to us to take care of ourselves no matter where we are. In my experience traveling all over the world, we are in many crowded situations and thieves know travelers carry money. Be certain your money is carried next to your body. Avoid wallets in the back pocket or side pocket or purses slung over the shoulder. A travel vest works best as you can have a small coin purse in the outside pocket, so if you are accosted you can throw it away from yourself and the thief will run after the vest while you can get away. The travel vest can be worn under or over a jacket.

Carry your money and valuables with you at all times. Leave nothing in your hotel or stateroom. Even your passport is a desired mark for thieves especially in countries where its becoming increasingly popular for identity theft. What could be a better place than an inside pocket of a travel vest?

Don't bother with a new wardrobe. Who knows what you will find in your travels. You can leave the old behind and fit the new right in the suitcase. The wardrobe works best if coordinated around one color with many different tops, wrinkle free if you roll them. A piece of costume jewelry, a scarf or a belt will set off your outfit. You might need a wrinkle free skirt for upscale restaurants, and ballerina slippers work well for those dressy nights and take little suitcase room.

Remember you are going to tote this suitcase so you want to keep it as light as possible.

Personal items that you can't live with out, carry in your travel vest. Crushable rain/wind proof jacket can go in the back pouch. Phone, credit card, traveler's checks, money, toothpaste, toothbrush, make up, camera, 2 days of medication, glasses, crossword puzzle book, tickets, passport...all go in the travel pockets so they are with you all the time. A travel vest bonus: it counts as an article of clothing, not an extra carry on bag! Fabulous!

Remember, look to yourself for your safety.
